10th IAPT Conference (2025)

The International Association for Philosophy of Time (IAPT) is pleased to announce its 10th annual conference to be held at the University of Santiago, Chile, on 7th-9th July 2025. The local organiser is Carlo Rossi (carlo.rossi@usach.cl). The programme committee is chaired by David Ingram (david.ingram@york.ac.uk ). The conference is sponsored by Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

Call for Abstracts: the organisers request submissions of high-quality abstracts (500–1000 words) of papers on the philosophy of time, broadly construed, suitable for 40-minute presentations. Abstracts should be prepared for blind review and submitted by email (as a .docx or .pdf file) to david.ingram@york.ac.uk by 31st January 2025, 12.00 pm (noon) GMT. The submission email should include your name, institutional affiliation, and the title of the paper (in the body of the email). Successful applicants will be notified and the full programme confirmed in April. (Please note: only one submission per person is permitted; an abstract for a coauthored paper counts as a submission for each of the coauthors.)

Philosophy of Time Naturalized (2024)

A seminar discussing approaches to any issue within philosophy of time from a naturalistic standpoint, with an emphasis on connections between philosophy of time and physics, psychology, or other natural and social sciences, organized by Adrian Bardon (Wake Forest) and Heather Dyke (Otago). Most participants will be invited; a small number will be selected via the call for abstracts. It will take place June 4-5, 2024 (arrive June 3, depart June 6) at The Cardinal Hotel in Winston-Salem, NC: https://www.thecardinalhotel.com/

Submissions on any topic in the philosophy of time are welcome, and we also encourage presentations discussing time in Quantum Gravity and cosmology.

Only one submission per person is permitted. Please include name, institutional affiliation, and preferred email address at the top of the short abstract, prepare the extended abstract for blind review, and indicate if you want to be considered for travel bursaries (only for graduate students and non-tenure-track faculty).

4th Annual IAPT Conference – First Call for Papers

The International Association for the Philosophy of Time (IAPT) is formed by the Philosophy of Time Society, the Centre for Time (Milan), and the Centre for Philosophy of Time (Sydney).

The IAPT invites submissions of high quality papers for the 4th annual IAPT conference, to be held from 12th–14th June 2017, at the Palazzo Feltrinelli, Gargnano, Lake Garda, Italy.

The IAPT conference will involve five themed sessions with invited keynote speakers and several open sessions. The themed sessions (with keynotes) are as follows:

Submissions on any topic in the philosophy of time are welcomed. All papers must be prepared for blind review and include a short abstract. Early career scholars, e.g. graduate students, postdocs, pre-tenure faculty (etc.), are eligible for a prize bursary — participants awarded a prize will be entitled to reimbursement for conference expenses up to the value of $500.

NB. The conference fee is €230, which includes three nights lodging in the Palazzo (from Sunday 11th to Wednesday 14th June) and all meals. Since the Palazzo has limited space, for those who cannot be lodged in the University facilities the fee is €120, which includes all meals (served in the Palazzo).
